16-year-old jumps off a plane to avoid arrest

A teen wanted on a felony warrant jumped off a plane in order to avoid arrest by police, causing police to chase him on foot around the airport runway.

The 16-year-old, who has a has a felony warrant for second-degree burglary out of Cleveland County, OK, was onboard United flight 5706 from Houston, KOCO reported.

When the plane landed in Oklahoma City, the passenger apparently knew police would be waiting for him.

"When getting off the plane, he jumped from the plane down to the tarmac and a foot chase by airline, airport and law enforcement took place," Will Rogers Airport said in a statement.

The teen managed to jump from a roof to the jet bridge and then to the ground inside a construction zone until police were able to catch him, according to ABC News.

He suffered a few minor injuries, was placed on a stretcher and taken to the hospital.

"United Airlines is cooperating with law enforcement officials following an incident with a passenger after United flight 5706 arrived at the gate in Oklahoma City," the airline said in a statement to ABC News. "We refer any additional questions on this matter to the local authorities."
