Kellyanne Conway slams ‘embarrassment’ Wolf Blitzer after CNN anchor asks about her Trump-critic husband

Kellyanne Conway lashed out at CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer during a heated on-air confrontation Thursday that erupted when he asked her to respond to criticism of President Trump by her husband, conservative lawyer George Conway.

“I think you embarrassed yourself and I’m embarrassed for you," Kellyanne Conway raked Blitzer. "This is CNN now? I really respected you for all those years as someone that would give you the news. And now it’s what somebody’s husband (said).”

Blitzer sought to smooth over the personal dispute by noting that George Conway is a prominent critic of Trump.

But Kellyanne Conway was having none of it.

“This is CNN now,” Kellyanne Conway added during an extraordinary back-and-forth. " And respectfully, I think a bunch of gossip girls and a bunch of opinion making and pontificating is not the way I looked at CNN."

The interview had already gotten off to a rocky start as Kellyanne Conway pushed back against Blitzer’s attempts to get reaction to the first day of the impeachment hearing.

The White House spokeswoman repeatedly sought to claim that the hearings are a waste of time and a continuation of the investigation into the Russia probe.

But things really went off the rails when Blitzer signaled that he was preparing to cue up a sound bite of George Conway’s appearance on MSNBC on Wednesday.
