Updated version of classic alphabet song has listeners outraged: 'It is life ruining'

A new version of the classic alphabet song has people questioning if they ever knew their ABCs at all.

Television writer and comedian Noah Garfinkel took to Twitter on Friday to share a clip of the "life-ruining" educational melody, remixed to leave more room for the rushed group of letters "LMNOP," which is sometimes referred to online as "elomenope."

While the new tune leaves proper space for each letter, it bumps "O" and "P" to the beginning of the next verse, which normally starts with the letter "Q."

The controversial remix was apparently produced by children's learning site Dream English, which aims to "make educational music that is not only filled with important phrases and grammar, but is also enjoyable to listen to."

Sadly, it seems that many social media users — albeit not members of the song's target dempgraphic — did not find the update enjoyable.

"This does not slap in the slightest," said London-based author Beth McColl.

"That was disgusting," wrote one user.

"NOT ELEMENO," said another.

One man used a screenshot from the original clip to show how he really felt about it.

Lesson learned: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
