Miami Dolphins rookie Christian Wilkins ejected for punch on second play of game

Miami Dolphins rookie Christian Wilkins was ejected on the second play of the game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

After an incomplete pass from Bills quarterback Josh Allen to Cole Beasley, Wilkins and Bills rookie guard Cody Ford were tangled up. Wilkins swung his right arm at the helmet of Ford and was immediately tossed.

This is a surprise given that Wilkins was hailed as having impeccable character at Clemson, where his off-field work was praised roundly both by Clemson and by NFL scouts.

Wilkins was a first-round pick of Miami (13th overall) this past April. He started the first six games of the season for the winless Dolphins.

Miami eventually lost, 31-21.
