Man arrested for allegedly attacking another for wearing MAGA hat in Russian

A California man was arrested for allegedly attacking another man wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat with Russian lettering, NBC News reports.

David Delgado, of Winnetka, was arrested Tuesday by the Hermosa Beach Police Department in Los Angeles County.

Authorities said the incident occurred on September 2, when Delgado and the other man were in a bathroom of a Hermosa Beach restaurant.

Delgado noticed the hat and purportedly asked the man what the Russian lettering meant. When the unidentified individual told him the hat said, "Make America Great Again," Delgado then repeatedly punched him until he fell to the ground, Sgt. Robert Higgins said.

Delgado then stole the hat and fled, Higgins added.

Law enforcement said they were able to identify Delgado through security footage. He is currently being held on $100,000 bond.
