Miami Dolphins vendor charges fan $724 for 2 beers

A Miami Dolphins vendor charged a fan $724 for a couple of beers using an alleged skimming device.

The Miami Herald reported that Nathaniel Collier sold two beers to a fan and swiped their card as if it were a normal transaction.

The device wasn’t authorized by the Dolphins or Hard Rock Stadium.

The Herald reported that Collier was employed with an organization called Rocket Man, a subcontractor for venues that hire people to roam the premises selling concessions and for security.

Collier was not working for Hard Rock Stadium, Rocket Man or the Dolphins when he allegedly used a skimming device for this transaction, according to Newsweek.

The fan got a notification on his phone about a potentially fraudulent charge that displayed the vendor’s name.

Collier was later arrested, fired by Rocket Man and is facing charges of grand theft. The fan got his money back.

Card skimming continues to evolve as credit card companies up the ante on security.

One thing you can do to protect yourself is set up bank notifications like this fan did.

He was able to do something about it immediately.
