Majority of Americans view Trump’s effort to pressure Ukraine as ‘serious’ problem: poll

Nearly two-thirds of Americans are concerned about President Trump’s admitted efforts to pressure Ukraine to get dirt on former Vice President Joe Biden, according to a new poll.

Forty-three percent of respondents described Trump’s conduct as a “very serious problem” while another 21% thought it was ”somewhat serious” in the ABC News/Ipsos poll released Sunday.

Responses followed party lines, with nine in 10 Dems and one in three Republicans viewing Trump’s behavior as serious.

The poll comes as Democrats in the House of Representatives are holding an impeachment inquiry into Trump centering on a whistleblower complaint that brought Trump’s activity to light. The document revealed last week showed Trump’s efforts to pressure his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate Biden, as well as the White House’s apparent efforts to cover it up.

Just 17% of poll respondents found Trump’s conduct surprising.
