Freddie Kitchens responds to Rex Ryan's 'asinine' statement on Baker Mayfield

Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens isn't putting much stock in what Rex Ryan thinks of his quarterback.

Ryan, a former NFL coach and current ESPN analyst, took aim at Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield on Monday, calling the young signal-caller "overrated as hell."

In a media conference on Wednesday, Kitchens came to his star's defense, calling Ryan's statement "asinine."

"I appreciate his opinion and all that, but he's not in our building. He has no idea what we're doing," Kitchens said.

"Is [Mayfield] a one-read quarterback? No, he's not. That's asinine to even say."

Mayfield himself also reacted to Ryan's comments, simply calling the criticism "whatever" and saying there's "a reason" the former coach isn't currently leading a team.

The 1-2 Browns next take on the 2-1 Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
