Report: Antonio Brown confronted Mike Mayock in middle of practice, called him 'cracker'

We know a little more about the dust-up between Antonio Brown and Oakland Raiders general manager Mike Mayock and, not surprisingly, the details aren’t pretty.

Brown saw Mayock, who sent Brown a letter informing him he’d be fined for missing a workout before the Raiders’ preseason game in Canada, watching practice on Wednesday. So during practice he initiated an argument with Mayock, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

During that argument, he called Mayock a “cracker,” Anderson reported. A day later the Raiders leaked a report that they were considering suspending Brown, who wasn’t at practice Thursday. The Raiders listed him as not participating in practice due to “conduct.”

Antonio Brown cussed out Mike Mayock

Anderson’s report said Brown used many cuss words toward Mayock, who walked away when the situation was escalating. According to the report, the situation never seemed to be getting physical, but teammates including linebacker Vontaze Burfict intervened to calm Brown down.

It’s pretty clear why the Raiders have to consider suspending Brown, though curiously they had not announced anything as of Friday morning. This is just the latest drama for Brown and the team, and interrupting practice to cuss out the general manager would presumably be the breaking point.

The Raiders play the Denver Broncos on Monday night in the second game of a doubleheader.

Brown and Raiders have had non-stop drama

Brown and the Raiders are off to a horrible start. There was the cryotherapy mishap, the helmet kerfuffle, missing at least one walkthrough, Brown posting his fine letter on Instagram (which said he had accrued more than $50,000 in fines already), yelling at Mayock, the suspension threat through the media and speculation the Raiders could void $30 million in guaranteed money.

That’s enough for a lifetime for most NFL players. This has all happened to Brown in a little more than a month.

The Raiders have decisions to make. After the incident in practice on Wednesday, the rest of the Raiders must just want the circus to calm down.
