Simone Biles, Coco Gauff have the most supportive Twitter exchange and our hearts can't take it

Simone Biles and Coco Gauff have the cross-sport friendship none of us ever knew we needed.

The young superstars have both become national darlings for their strong performances in gymnastics and tennis, respectively. Biles, 22, became a household name during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and has been captivating fans and making history ever since.

The 15-year-old Gauff, more recently, qualified for Wimbledon last month and upset Venus Williams in the first round – then made it to the third round of the ongoing U.S. Open before losing to defending champion Naomi Osaka.

It's hard not to be a fan of either young woman. And on Thursday, we found out that they're fans of each other, too.

After the nominees were released for the People's Choice Awards Game Changer of 2019, Biles started campaigning for Gauff on Twitter. The gymnast, who was also nominated, tweeted that if Gauff doesn't win the award, "we riot."

Gauff quickly responded with a sweet message of her own that mirrored Biles's sentiment:

We can only hope these supportive tweets will turn into full-fledged campaigns for each other and one of them takes home the award.

Other nominees for the Game Changer award include LeBron James, Megan Rapinoe and Serena Williams. This year's People's Choice Awards will take place on November 10.
