Woman falls 80 feet from balcony while practicing extreme yoga pose

A Mexican college student survived an 80-foot fall after practicing an extreme yoga pose on her building's sixth-floor balcony, according to the New York Post.

Twenty-three-year-old Alexa Terrazas, who studies health and nutrition at Tecnológico de Monterrey, slipped from the balcony railing last Saturday and landed on the pavement outside her apartment in the northeastern state of Nuevo León, the Post reported while quoting local media outlets. Neighbors said they had seen her perform an upside-down pose on her terrace prior to her fall.

The college student had reportedly performed similar death-defying poses on the the guardrail before but nearly died after falling and suffering fractures to her legs, arms, hip and head. She was taken to the hospital, where she underwent an 11-hour procedure that required doctors to "reconstruct" her legs.

As of Monday, Terrazas was still in critical condition, the Post reported. Doctors said they believe it could take up to three years for the 23-year-old to walk again.

In the meantime, people on social media have called for others to donate blood, although Terazzas's family has said there is no need.
