Zak Keefer of The Athletic reported that some Colts fans called the team headquarters on Monday morning, demanding refunds on the season tickets they bought.

There are plenty of Colts fans who have season tickets and the ones who want their money back presumably don’t make up the majority (Keefer added he has heard from many Colts fans who are happy for Luck), but it’s a reminder that some folks are frustrated with Luck’s decision.

Season-ticket holders want money back

There has been a debate since Saturday night about what Luck owes anyone. Yahoo Sports’ Kimberley Martin wrote that Luck didn’t owe anyone anything.

While that is true, some season-ticket holders probably feel a bit differently. Luck was clearly the biggest headliner on the Colts. The product changes when it’s Jacoby Brissett at quarterback. The Colts have used Luck’s presence to sell tickets, as they should have. Luck was part of the kit they sent to season-ticket holders.

And the team people have paid to see isn’t the same after Luck stepped away.

Colts a different team without Andrew Luck

Season tickets aren’t cheap. The packages for the 100 section in Lucas Oil Stadium mostly go for more than $1,000.

Of course, there are no guarantees in the NFL. Players can get hurt at any time. Teams can perform below expectations. On the flip side, it’s also possible the Colts surprise everyone with Brissett. Nobody knew when Tom Brady took over for Drew Bledsoe that the Patriots had just started a dynasty.

There’s a lot of hurt feelings and frustration over Luck’s retirement. For some who wrote a big check for season tickets, they’re voicing their frustration to the team.
