Texas newlyweds die in car crash moments after wedding: 'The two of them had so many dreams'

A young Texas couple died in a car accident while driving home from their own wedding ceremony Friday, according to KFDM

Harley Morgan, 19, and Rhiannon Boudreaux, 20, were leaving the Orange County Justice of the Peace courtroom when their car collided with a pickup truck that was towing a tractor, police said in a statement

The accident occurred on State Highway 87 near the Orange County Airport, which is near the Texas-Louisiana border. Both Morgan and Boudreaux died in the collision. The man driving the pickup truck was reportedly unharmed

Harley's mother, Kennia Morgan, who was driving behind her son and his new wife before the accident, told KFDM the newlyweds were high school sweethearts and had dated off and on since eighth grade. She said the couple had plenty of plans together, including a larger wedding celebration this Christmas.

"Those two babies," she told the station. "The only thing that they wanted was to get married and start their life. The two of them had so many dreams."

The bereaved mother described the situation as living her "own worst nightmare," adding that it's an image she'll never be able to forget.

"I watched my baby die," she told KFDM. "I'm still wearing my son's blood because I was trying my best to rip him and her out of the car."

"Go home and hug your family tonight. If you have kids, go home and hug them because now I don't have my kid," she added. "I don't have the one thing in my life that made me happy."

Family and friends had planned for a celebration of the couple at Kennia Morgan's house on Friday night.

Instead, they met Friday evening at a nearby Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin Robbins, where Harley had worked. They mourned the newlyweds with a number of mementos, including the couple's rings and the uneaten wedding cake.

Joy Dubose-Simonton, the Justice of the Peace who performed the wedding, also pronounced the couple dead at the scene. Police said the accident is still under investigation.
