Report: Melvin Gordon's holdout expected to extend into regular season
Unless something drastic happens, the Los Angeles Chargers won’t have running back Melvin Gordon for Week 1. Gordon’s holdout is expected to stretch into the regular season, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The 26-year-old Gordon has not reported to camp in an effort to receive a long-term contract. Gordon is entering the final year of his current deal. He’s expected to hit the market after the season.
While the two sides have reportedly talked about a deal, Gordon and the Chargers are “millions apart in negotiations.”
Gordon is expected to train in Florida while he’s away from the team.
In four seasons, Gordon has put up 3,638 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns with the Chargers. He’s been good as a receiver too, catching 182 balls for 1,577 yards and 10 scores. Gordon has made the Pro Bowl twice in his career.
If Gordon misses time during the regular season, the Chargers are expected to use Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson as their primary runners.
