Tom Brady discusses 'unique' contract situation with Patriots: 'It's a business'

Tom Brady says he doesn't want to think he's "any different than everyone else" — but he can acknowledge that the situation he's in is "unique."

The star quarterback is entering his 20th season both in the league and with the New England Patriots and just days ago celebrated his 42nd birthday. He is the winningest quarterback in regular season, postseason and Super Bowl history, and thanks to a recent contract extension with the Patriots, he has some more time to add onto those totals.

After this season, however, there's some uncertainty.

As part of Brady's contract, he will become a free agent at the end of the 2019 season. He isn't eligible for a franchise or transition tag by the Patriots in 2020. The NFL veteran and wife Gisele Bündchen have also listed their expansive Boston-area home, which some believe may signal an upcoming move out of Massachusetts.

Brady admitted that his status is up in the air when speaking to the media at Patriots training camp.

"I've got one year to go, and we'll see what happens," he said. "It's the reality for most guys in the NFL."

The Patriots are in Detroit to take on the Lions when the NFL preseason begins on Thursday night.
