'Babe, I just got shot in my head': Woman who died in Dayton shooting called her children’s father before dying

A 27-year-old mother of two contacted her children’s father on FaceTime after being shot during the massacre in Dayton, Ohio

“She FaceTimed me and said, ‘Babe, I just got shot in my head, I need to get to my kids,’ ” Lois L. Oglesby said, according to a Facebook post by Dee Lee, the children’s father.

“She was letting me know she loved me and to take care of these kids and I got you babe! I can’t stop crying!” Lee added.

“My girls momma gone man!! ... Don’t know what to do!!” he wrote in a separate post.

Oglesby, a nursing student, had recently been on maternity leave.

“She was a wonderful mother,” Derasha Merrett, her friend, told the Dayton Daily News. “I have cried so much, I can’t cry anymore.”

The Miami Valley Community Action Partnership, where Oglesby’s mother worked, set up a donation page for the “long-term care” of Oglesby’s daughters as well as to cover funeral expenses.
