SEE IT: Bat stows away on Spirit Airlines plane, terrorizes cabin before being trapped in bathroom

At least with snakes on a plane, they don’t fly.

A bat materialized on a Spirit Airlines flight from Charlotte to Newark and shot through the cabin, freaking out passengers before being trapped in a bathroom.

The July 31 incident was caught on phone cam by one Peter Scattini, who posted the mayhem on Twitter, captioned with a virtual head-scratch over his attempt to fly budget.

The passengers can be heard screaming as the animal flits by.

At some point someone trapped it and locked it in a bathroom, where it spent the remainder of the flight, Scattini said in a follow-up tweet.

He noted that its appearance at all was a mystery, given that the bat came out of nowhere a half hour after takeoff.

As happens in the Twitterverse, there was no end of commentary, starting with Spirit Airlines.

“We certainly want to address this for you,” the airline replied to Scattini. “Please DM us your reservation information when you have a chance.”

“Whoever trapped it needs free flights for life,” wrote one commenter, though another opined, “That sounds more like a punishment.”

“I wonder how much Spirit charged the passengers for the bat upgrade,” pondered another.

It got a little more surreal when late-night host Stephen Colbert weighed in.

Others expressed concern for the bat.

Spirit Airlines said the bat was removed and taken away by animal control after the flight.

“The aircraft was disinfected and searched as a precaution,” the airline told CNN. “It is believed the bat started its journey in Charlotte, flying into an overhead bin while our crews were doing overnight maintenance. No one was hurt in this incident, including the bat.”
