Robert F. Kennedy's granddaughter dies at family compound in Mass. - NYT

Aug 1 (Reuters) - A granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy died on Thursday following an apparent overdose at the family's compound in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, the New York Times reported.

The Times identified the victim as Saoirse Kennedy Hill, 22, a granddaughter of family matriarch Ethel Kennedy, 91. Reuters could not immediately confirm the report with Massachusetts authorities.

Emergency responders were called to the estate on Thursday afternoon and Hill was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, where she was pronounced dead, the paper reported.

"Our hearts are shattered by the loss of our beloved Saoirse," the Kennedy family said in a statement released to the Times. "Her life was filled with hope, promise and love."
