A Texas mother was arrested after she allegedly left her baby in a parked car outside a nightclub while she took shots at the bar.

Samantha Grace Vaughan, 26, was taken into custody Sunday morning after police received a call around 1:45 a.m. about a child who had been left inside a vehicle outside Trackside Night Club in Copperas Cove, Texas.

Responding officers found Vaughan's 1-year-old, Reiley Jo, asleep in the back of a silver 2009 Buick Limited with the engine still running, according to an arrest affidavit. The temperature in Copperas Cove hovered around the high 70s, low 80s at the time the child was rescued.

An officer went into the venue and found Vaughan, who allegedly told him she had driven to the club to pick up her husband and had only gone inside to use the restroom. Upon further questioning, the suspect, who police say smelled strongly of alcohol, admitted to sitting down with her husband at the club and taking two shots.

When she was told she was under arrest, Vaughan allegedly began shouting racial slurs, including, "You will not take my child and place her with a f*****g n****r," and refused to comply when she was placed handcuffs, the affidavit states.

Police say she was told to stop resisting but still continued to "thrash her body around" and "yell and throw herself about."

She was eventually placed in the back of a patrol car, where she allegedly “smashed her forehead” into a steel bar, resulting in a small laceration on her forehead — visible in her mugshot — where she can be seen smiling.

A breathalyzer test administered later that night determined Vaughan's blood-alcohol level was 0.148, nearly twice the legal limit.

She was charged with abandoning or endangering a child with intent to return, resisting arrest and making a terroristic threat against a public servant.
