Klay Thompson's dad says there is 'no question' his son will return to Warriors
Major injuries to impending free agents can throw the entire market into upheaval. We’ve had a few days to absorb and process Kevin Durant’s ruptured Achilles, but Klay Thompson’s torn ACL is still fresh, as is the Golden State Warriors losing out on a championship three-peat to the Toronto Raptors.
A severe injury like that has the potential to change things. But according to Thompson’s dad, former NBA player Mychal Thompson, it’s not going to change anything. He told the Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle that Thompson is committed to the Warriors.
Just spoke with Klay Thompson's father, Mychal, who said there's "no question" Klay will re-sign with the Warriors. Golden State is expected to still offer him a full five-year maximum deal.

As long as the Warriors are offering, which ESPN’s Brian Windhorst says they are, it looks like Klay is there to stay. But Thompson isn’t the only one who could be getting that deal. Windhorst reported that the Warriors are prepared to offer both Thompson and Durant five-year max contracts despite the injuries that will keep them on the sidelines for the better part of a year.
While Mychal Thompson has seemingly given the world an inside track on what his son is going to do in free agency, Durant remains a wild card. Anyone want to call up one of his parents? Maybe they have some news to share about their son’s free agency plans.
