Trump: Mexico doing more for U.S. at border than Democrats

Days after announcing that the U.S. has reached a border deal with Mexico, President Trump slammed Democrats on Twitter.

“Sad when you think about it, but Mexico right now is doing more for the United States at the Border than the Democrats in Congress!” Trump tweeted Tuesday.

Trump’s announcement came through a series of tweets last week.

“I am pleased to inform you that The United States of America has reached a signed agreement with Mexico,” Trump wrote. “The Tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the U.S. on Monday, against Mexico, are hereby indefinitely suspended.”

“Mexico, in turn, has agreed to take strong measures to stem the tide of Migration through Mexico, and to our Southern Border,” Trump continued. “This is being done to greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States. Details of the agreement will be released shortly by the State Department. Thank you!”

The New York Times notes: “The president’s threat that he would levy the potentially crippling tariffs on Mexico grew out of his deepening frustration with the surge of migrants that have been arriving at the border.”
