Auburn gymnast Samantha Cerio walks down aisle at wedding, 2 months after gruesome leg injury

Former Auburn gymnast Samantha Cerio had one major goal in mind after her gruesome leg injury forced her to retire from the sport — and over the weekend, she achieved it.

Just two months after undergoing major surgery to repair her career-ending injury, including two dislocated knees and multiple torn ligaments, the North Carolina native was able to walk down the aisle on June 1 to marry her now-husband, Trey Wood.

Multiple photos shared by the blushing bride on Instagram show her celebrating on her feet during her wedding ceremony and reception, a sight which was difficult to imagine after watching the 22-year-old being carried out of the NCAA Regional Semifinal on a stretcher in April.

After footage of her leg injury went viral, Cerio spoke out to ask people to refrain from sharing the distressing clip, saying, "My pain is not your entertainment."

The recent college grad, who majored in aerospace engineering, now plans to move to Seattle with her husband to pursue a structural design analysis engineer position at Boeing.
