Father accused of murdering newborn son after losing video game

A Kentucky man has been charged with murder after he struck his newborn son in anger over losing a video game, according to the Louisville Courier Journal.

Anthony Trice, 26, was home alone with his one-month-old son last Friday, when he got frustrated over the game and threw his controller, an arrest citation notes. Trice then punched his son in the head and seriously injured him, police said.

In an effort to calm his child down, Trice picked him up but dropped him while carrying him into the kitchen. The father then made his son a bottle before realizing that the infant was "in distress." Trice called 911, and the boy was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Trice was initially charged with first-degree criminal abuse of a child on Saturday, but the charges were upgraded to murder after his son died that night.

On Monday, a judge raised Trice's bond to $1 million full cash, WAVE reports.

The child's grandmother has created a GoFundMe to pay for his burial, adding that none of her family saw his death coming. As of Tuesday, it has raised almost $1,500 of its $5,000 goal.
