Mother says she found 2-year-old daughter with condom in her mouth at McDonald's

An Australian mother allegedly found her 2-year-old daughter with an unwrapped condom in her mouth while the two were at a McDonald's, according to the Daily Mail and the Courier Mail.

Identified only as Annie, the woman said she had taken her daughter to a McDonald's in Queensland as a treat. The young child went off to the restaurant's outdoor play area and returned 15 minutes later to show her mother the not-so-age-appropriate item she had unearthed.

"She said 'Mummy, look!' and started to put it in her mouth. I was like 'Oh!' and smacked it out of her hand and it went underneath the table," the woman told the Courier Mail.

Annie said her daughter told her the condom — which the child had thought was a balloon — was unpackaged when it was found. When the woman notified staff about it, they reportedly apologized and told her that someone may have left it in the play area as a joke.

"I said, 'Joke or not, my kid's just had it in her mouth. I don't know where it's been.'" Annie said. "I literally left all my meal on the table and I said, 'The condom's still under the table in the restaurant.'"

In a statement to Daily Mail Australia, a McDonald's spokesperson said an investigation into the incident revealed that it was nothing more "than some kids playing around."

"Regardless, we apologize this customer had this experience and hope to welcome them in our restaurants again soon," the statement further read.

A similar condom incident apparently occurred just weeks before, at a McDonald's in Warnbro. A woman, who was only identified as Wendy, said her husband found their daughter sucking on what appeared to be a used condom in the restaurant's main dining area. The couple said at the time that they were considering legal action.
