'Iranian Hulk' announces his official MMA debut

Updated

A weightlifter known as the "Iranian Hulk" due to his sheer size has announced his official MMA debut — and he has plans to smash the competition.

Sajad Gharibi, who towers at 6'2" tall and weighs approximately 390 pounds, took to Instagram to inform his 446K followers that after years of training, he will finally be stepping into the ring.

"So I’m finally accepting my first professional fight from a Brazilian fighter before 2020," wrote the 27-year-old, not-so-jolly-green giant.

Gharibi began openly taunting fellow athletes in January 2019 when he took to social media to suggest no one had the guts to compete against him.

"Be brave and Invite me to fight rather than hiding behind your sponsors," he wrote on Instagram. "I am ready to fight you, show me what you've got to say in the ring."

Although details on his first match remain vague, many have speculated his opponent may be 29-year-old Romario dos Santos Alves, dubbed the "Brazilian Hulk," who recently threatened to "tear off" Gharibi's head in an Instagram video.

However, considering Alves stands at 5'8" and clocks in at just 229 pounds — 6 inches shorter and 161 pounds less than his opponent — it seems his claims may hold even less weight than he does.
