Tiger Woods to headline PGA's first event in Japan
The PGA is staging its first official event in Japan this fall.
It won’t be sending the B team.
Calling Japan one of his “favorite countries,” Tiger Woods announced via Twitter on Wednesday that he will compete in the inaugural ZOZO Championship.

Woods may play exhibition match in Japan, too
The tournament will take place outside of Tokyo at the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club from Oct. 24-27.
Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg told ESPN that Woods may take part in an exhibition during the trip to Japan similar to the Thanksgiving weekend match he played against Phil Mickelson last year.
“We haven't put together what the field will look like,” Steinberg said. “How big would the field be? What type of format would they play? The exact date? We'd like to do it around the first-ever PGA Tour event in Japan.”
Woods is fresh off his fifth Masters win and first major victory since 2008.
His resurgence is a boost to the PGA and will provide the tour with a high-profile entrance into a new country.
