AUGUSTA, Ga.—Augusta National Golf Club has seen some strangeness over the decades, and Thursday on Hole 2 was right up there:

That’s Jason Day, former world no. 1 and oft-injured Australian, sprawled out in the shade alongside Pink Dogwood, getting treatment for a tight back. Ouch.

And why was Day’s back tight? He apparently injured it picking up his daughter before the day’s play began. It’s the latest in a long string of injuries for Day, ranging from sickness to vertigo. We’ll have to see how long he lasts at Augusta National, but so far, this isn’t an auspicious start.
