The intruder broke a front window the night of March 29 and stole a safe in the master bedroom closet, per the report. Markakis reportedly told the police it had three 9 mm handguns, an AR-15 rifle, $20,000 in cash and a Breitling watch. Breitling watches begin at around $4,500 with most in the $10,000 range. The most expensive ones max out at $55,000. He also reported a firearm from the basement bedroom missing.

The Braves had the day off in Philly after losing, 10-4, in the season opener. Officers responded to the scene shortly before midnight after receiving a call of a break in, per the police report. Markakis received word when a neighbor called him and gave the cell to the police officers while they were at the scene, per the AJC.

The report did not say if anyone was in the home. The investigation is ongoing.

Markakis, who grew up in Woodstock, Georgia, is known to be an avid hunter. The 35-year-old right fielder is on a one-year, $6 million guaranteed deal with the Braves after earning his first MLB all-star selection in 2018.

He had a slash line of .297/.366/.440 to win his first Silver Slugger award and won the third Gold Glove of his career. The 14th-year veteran played for the Baltimore Orioles the first nine years of his career.

The Braves (7-4) have a weekend series at home against the New York Mets after Wednesday’s series finale against the Colorado Rockies was postponed due to a “bomb cyclone” rolling through Colorado and the Midwest. Markakis has 14 hits, eight runs and nine RBI in 11 games.
