Charles Barkley gets booed at Katy Perry concert after saying the Timberwolves suck
Charles Barkley has been booed many times in his life. The 56-year-old Barkley routinely beat up on other teams during his 16-year, Hall of Fame career in the NBA. Opposing fans enjoyed booing him.
But, as far as we know, this is first time he’s been booed at a Katy Perry concert. Barkley took the stage at the free Katy Perry concert in Minneapolis during the Final Four. What started as a kind, warm-hearted speech quickly devolved into ... well, why don’t you take a look.
Barkley starts off praising Minneapolis as a great city. Just as he starts to win the fans over, he hits them with a “I haven’t been here for a long time because the Timberwolves suck.”
That last statement was met with lusty boos from those in attendance. In the TMZ video, Barkley can be seen gesturing after that statement as if to say, “What did I do?”
Clearly, Barkley has learned a lot while being on the “Inside the NBA” set every night. Usually, entertainers want to pump up a crowd. Barkley had other ideas.
The people of Minneapolis probably had good reason to be upset with Barkley. In his 50 games against the Timberwolves, Barkley averaged 21.4 points and 11.7 rebounds per game.
Those were pretty close to Barkley’s career averages in both categories, and those were good enough to get him to the Hall of Fame.
Because of that, we have to assume this probably wasn’t the first time Barkley was booed in Minneapolis.
