Michael Cohen used International Women’s Day to give his former client Donald Trump some advice.

Cohen, who served as Trump’s lawyer for more than a decade, begins a three-year prison sentence in May on charges related to hush-money payments during the 2016 presidential campaign to two women who are alleged to have had extramarital affairs with Trump.

Cohen’s jab at the president came one day after he filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against the Trump Organization in New York State Supreme Court in Manhattan that seeks to cover his mounting legal bills. It also followed a Friday tweet by the president accusing him of committing perjury in sworn testimony last week before the House Intelligence Committee.

During his House testimony, Cohen denied that he was hoping Trump would pardon him for his crimes.

“I have never asked for, nor would I accept, a pardon from President Trump,” Cohen said.

Cohen also submitted copies of checks signed by the president he said were written to reimburse him for the $130,000 Cohen paid to porn actress Stephanie Clifford, aka Stormy Daniels, in exchange for her silence about an extramarital affair with Trump.

Initially, Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that he had no knowledge of Cohen’s payment to Daniels. On Thursday, however, the president sought to account for the checks presented by his former fixer.
