Ivanka Trump jokes about having the 'hardest job in the world'

Ivanka Trump has joked that being President Trump’s daughter is the “hardest job in the world.”

NPR reports, her comment was made Saturday night at the annual Gridiron Club and Foundation dinner, an exclusive event which has brought together journalists, politicians, and other Washington elites for 134 years.

President Trump attended last year, but his daughter was asked to make some remarks to the crowd this year instead.

She joked about her father’s absence, saying: “The opportunity to poke fun at the media is not something he passes up lightly…[for him,] every day is a gridiron dinner.”

“The press seems to think it’s ironic that I, born of great privilege, think people want to work for what they are given…As if being Donald Trump’s daughter isn’t the hardest job in the world,” Ivanka Trump also said.

She was referring to the backlash she received recently for criticizing the Green New Deal’s job guarantee by saying, in part: “I don’t think most Americans, in their heart, want to be given something….People want to work for what they get. So, I think this idea of a guaranteed minimum is not something most people want.”

The first daughter was then mocked on social media for making the comment given her own extremely privileged background.

The Washington Post’s Eugene Scott tweeted in response: “Has Ivanka Trump ever had a job that her father did not give her?
