2 arrested after fight erupts at buffet over crab legs

Two crabby customers were arrested after a fight broke out at a dinner buffet in Huntsville, Ala., last Friday evening.

John Chapman and Chequita Jenkins are both facing misdemeanor charges following a brawl over crab legs at the Meteor Buffet, which left Chapman with a cut on his head, WHNT reports.

The two suspects had been waiting in line between 10 and 20 minutes for more of the seafood dish to be brought out before the feud began, according to Huntsville police officer Gerald Johnson.

Johnson, who originally went to the buffet to eat dinner, told the station that a server had just brought out more of the crab legs when he believes one customer may have begun taking "more than their fair share."

"Everyone was saying, 'They cut me in line. She cut me in line. He cut me in line. I was here first," Johnson recounted. "Literally as I sat down and maybe took two bites out of my plate, there's a woman who's beating a man. People are moving around, plates are shattering everywhere."

"It's not something you typically hear, if you can imagine a fencing match," he added.

The two seafood fanatics were arrested at the scene. Chapman is facing disorderly conduct charges, while Jenkins, who was dining with her children at the time, has been charged with third-degree assault. They both also face hundreds of dollars in fines, which far eclipse the $10.58 per plate fee at Meteor Buffet.
