Woman who called Michelle Obama an 'ape in heels' defrauded FEMA out of $18K

The ex-West Virginia county official that called former First Lady Michelle Obama an “ape in heels” has pleaded guilty to defrauding the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

According to officials, Pamela Taylor admitted to falsely registering for over $18,000 in relief benefits after severe flooding in June 2016.

Taylor told FEMA that the floods had damaged her primary residence and that she was staying at a rental property, according to Newsweek.

The only problem is her home was never damaged and she was apparently still living there when she made the request to FEMA.

The severe flooding killed 23 people and caused significant damage to property in the state.

Taylor has agreed to pay $18,149 and four cents back in restitution and faces up to 30 years in prison and a maximum fine of $500,000.
