Woman accused of mowing down Las Vegas manicurist after stiffing the bill arrested in Arizona

The woman who allegedly struck and killed a manicurist after skipping out on her $35 bill has been arrested, said police.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced that Krystal Whipple, 21, was arrested in Glendale, Ariz., Friday morning after investigators were notified of her whereabouts.

Whipple’s mother and grandmother told ABC News that she was recognized by an Arizona resident, who then called authorities.

On Dec. 29, Whipple, who had received a manicure at Crystal Nails and Spa, told workers at the Las Vegas salon that she needed to retrieve cash from her car after her credit card declined, said cops.

Surveillance video shows Nhu (Annie) Ngoc Nguyen running out of the salon in an attempt to catch Whipple before she drove off in her rental car, said cops.

Nguyen, 51, positioned herself in front of the car while her husband, Sonny Chung, sprinted to the back. The vehicle then accelerated through the parking lot and struck Nguyen, dragging her about 50 feet.

“I tried to hold the car back, but I’m not Superman,” said Chung. “She ran off for $35 and killed my wife — $35 to run my wife over.”

The manicurist later died at a local hospital from multiple blunt-force injuries, and the car was found abandoned in a nearby housing complex, said cops.

After Whipple was identified as the suspect, her mother, Sharon Whipple, appeared on TV pleading to turn herself in.

“You can’t run, baby,” said the anguished mom. “You cannot run. You have to come forward, baby.”

Nguyen, whose organs were donated, is survived by her husband, three daughters and several grandchildren.
