Trump says ‘crazed lunatics’ in media are ‘truly the enemy of the people’

President Trump took to Twitter on Monday and lashed out at the media over coverage of his presidency.

“With all of the success that our Country is having, including the just-released jobs numbers which are off the charts, the Fake News & totally dishonest Media concerning me and my presidency has never been worse,” Trump tweeted.

He continued: “Many have become crazed lunatics who have given up on the TRUTH! The Fake News will knowingly lie and demean in order make the tremendous success of the Trump Administration, and me, look as bad as possible. They use non-existent sources & write stories that are total fiction. Our Country is doing so well, yet this is a sad day in America!”

“The Fake News Media in our Country is the real Opposition Party. It is truly the Enemy of the People! We must bring honesty back to journalism and reporting!” Trump wrote in another tweet.

In his push to discredit the mainstream media, Trump has made similar comments before.

Back in July, he said during a speech in Kansas City: “Stick with us. Don’t believe the crap you see from these people, the fake news…What you’re seeing and what you’re reading is not what’s happening.”

The media has been among Trump’s favorite Twitter targets.

He wrote in an October tweet: “There is great anger in our Country caused in part by inaccurate, and even fraudulent, reporting of the news. The Fake News Media, the true Enemy of the People, must stop the open & obvious hostility & report the news accurately & fairly. That will do much to put out the flame.”
