Boston Marathon bombing survivor who lost leg in attack hospitalized after being hit by car

A woman who lost her left leg in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings was hospitalized after being hit by a car Saturday.

Adrianne Haslet said she was struck by a car on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston, throwing her into the air and “crushing the left side of (her) body” when she landed.

“I’m completely broken,” Haslet wrote on an Instagram post of her lying in a hospital bed. “More surgery to come.”

The ballroom dancer was one of the hundreds injured in the attack and of the 17 who lost a limb. She has since completed the 2016 Boston Marathon, appeared on “Dancing with the Stars” and become an advocate for amputee rights.

“I refuse to be called a victim. A victim is defined by what happened in their life,” her website reads. “I am a survivor, defined by how I live my life.”

The driver remained at the scene and was cited for failing to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk, according to Boston police.

Haslet said she was “really scared” as she headed into surgery, but thanked her followers for their kind words.

“I can feel your love and support,” she said on her Instagram story.
