Want proof that officials can be athletes too? Look at the ups from referee John McDaid in the Rose Bowl.

McDaid jumped high in the air to snag a balloon that was floating above the field in the second quarter of Ohio State’s game against Washington.

The underrated part of the sequence is McDaid subtly popping the balloon after his majestic leap to take it out of the air.

McDaid is part of the SEC officiating crew that was assigned to the game between the champions of the Pac-12 and the SEC. We always knew about SEC speed and maybe that principle transfers over to vertical leaps too.
