‘Pretty disappointing’: Ocasio-Cortez slams McCaskill for referring to her as ‘shiny object’ and ‘thing’

Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez firing back after outgoing Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri recently said about her, “I’m a little confused why she’s the thing.”

“Not sure why former Sen. McCaskill keeps going on TV to call me a ‘thing’ and ‘shiny object,’ but it’s pretty disappointing,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Saturday. “McCaskill promised she’d ‘100% back Trump up’ on his anti-immigrant rhetoric & lost. In MO, almost all progressive ballot issues won.”

McCaskill made the remark during a CNN interview.

“A bright, shiny new object,” McCaskill also said about Ocasio-Cortez. “Came out of nowhere and surprised people when she beat a very experienced congressman. And so she’s now talked about a lot. I’m not sure what she’s done yet to generate that kind of enthusiasm.”

McCaskill further commented that she wishes her well but hopes that Ocasio-Cortez realizes there are parts of the country where working people are looking for achievable solutions rather than lofty goals.

“The rhetoric is cheap. Getting results is a lot harder,” McCaskill added.
