Trump blames deaths of two migrant children on 'Democrats and their pathetic immigration policies'

Days after two migrant children died in US government custody, President Trump blamed the incidents on Democrats.

“Any deaths of children or others at the Border are strictly the fault of the Democrats and their pathetic immigration policies that allow people to make the long trek thinking they can enter our country illegally,” Trump tweeted Saturday. “They can’t.”

“If we had a Wall, they wouldn’t even try! The two children in question were very sick before they were given over to Border Patrol. The father of the young girl said it was not their fault, he hadn’t given her water in days. Border Patrol needs the Wall and it will all end. They are working so hard & getting so little credit!” Trump continued.

NPR reported Friday: “Eight-year-old Felipe Gomez-Alonzo had the flu when he died on Monday, according to an autopsy by the New Mexico medical investigator. Officials say 7-year-old Jakelin Caal Maquin, who died three weeks ago, was dehydrated and had similar symptoms.”

House Democrats have vowed to investigate why the two children died within a month in border patrol custody, reports the Washington Examiner.

The tweets were Trump’s first public comments on the incidents.
