Video shows Chiefs' Kareem Hunt shoving, kicking woman in hotel earlier this year

TMZ has posted video of Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt shoving and kicking a 19-year-old woman at a Cleveland hotel earlier this year.

The incident happened at The Metropolitan hotel in February.

Hunt questioned but not arrested

Hunt was questioned by police at the time of the incident, but was not arrested, and the event was reported by media at the time.

According to the police report, Hunt and some friends were having a night of partying and kicked a group of young women out of their hotel room when they learned they were 19, and not old enough to legally drink.

The woman who accused Hunt of assaulting her, 19-year-old Abigail Ottinger, said she was kicked out of the hotel apartment after she turned down one of Hunt’s friends; one of Hunt’s friends said she called them racial slurs.

The video was taken in the hallway, and shows Hunt pointing and gesturing, and then a woman approaches. A third person, a man, stands between Hunt and the woman, but Hunt shoves her.

Hunt pushes the man aside to go after the woman again.

Toward the end of the video, Hunt kicks a woman who is down on the floor.

He was not suspended by the NFL at the time.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano tweeted that the Chiefs sent Hunt home from the team facility after the video became public.

Not Hunt’s only altercation

The February hotel incident was the first reported altercation for Hunt this year; in June, TMZ reported that the 23-year-old got into an argument with a man at a resort in Put-In-Bay, Ohio and punched the man.

A resort official confirmed to TMZ that there had been an incident involving the 2017 Pro Bowler.

Though the man told TMZ that Hunt had punched him hard, he did not seek medical attention and did not want to press charges.

Will NFL take action?

The Chiefs and NFL knew about the February incident, but it’s unclear if the team and league knew about or had seen the video.

Hunt was not arrested in either offseason incident, but we’ve seen many times that an arrest isn’t necessary for the league to hand down punishment.

Could this be a repeat of 2014 and Ray Rice, when the league handed down a two-game suspension initially but increased it once the public saw the video of Rice punching his then-fiancé in the face and the resulting public outcry?
