Kevin Durant is notoriously exploitable on social media.

From torching teammates with burner accounts to taking on fans directly on Instagram, Durant makes himself an easy target for hecklers.

Durant lashes out at Dallas fan

Now, like a stand-up comic taking barbs for the first time on stage, Durant is lashing out at fans in the stands.

Barstool Sports posted Instagram video Monday of an incident from Golden State’s loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday between Durant and a fan.

It’s not a good look.

“Watch the f—— game and shut the f— up,” Durant leaned over and yelled at a fan on the baseline.

What prompted Durant’s outburst was not documented. The fan could have been in his ear all evening with awful stuff about Durant’s game or his family for all we know.

The NBA fined Durant $25,000 for the outburst on Tuesday.

Durant invites heckling

But it’s Durant’s response that demonstrates why he’s such a desired target in the first place. He’s one of the greatest players to ever play the game. He’s also one of the most outwardly sensitive.

If he wasn’t prone to this kind of response, he wouldn’t hear from the haters to begin with. Not as much, at least. Fans know he can be rattled.

The Warriors look vulnerable for the first time since they took over as the NBA’s dominant franchise. They’re in the midst of a 1-4 stretch and dealing with internal turmoil centered around Durant’s conflict with teammate Draymond Green, making Durant an even higher-value target for opposing fans.

While it probably felt good to him to tell the Dallas fan to “shut the f— up,” the reality is that Durant just opened himself up to more noise from fans in the future.
