Missouri GOP candidate's daughter: Don't vote for my dad

The Hill reports that in Missouri, a woman is claiming that her own father is unfit to hold public office.

Steve West, a Republican candidate for the Missouri State House, is not getting an endorsement from his daughter.

Emily West told The Kansas City Star, “I can’t imagine him being in any level of government.”

This follows a primary win by her father in August where he drew attention for previous anti-Semitic, racist and homophobic remarks including that saying, “Hitler was right” when it came to who was behind the events taking place in Germany before World War II.

Emily West added, “You see his signs everywhere. I don’t understand how people can put out his signs knowing the comments that he’s made.”

The campaign and rhetoric has caused a rift in the family. But despite being asked to drop out of the race by his daughter, Steve West told the Kansas City Star, “I have a good reputation. These people are trying to paint me as some monster.

"A lot of people know me and they don’t have these experiences with me. There’s a good chance I’m going to win.”
