DNC head: Trump is putting 'fear of God' into Latino voters

Democratic National Committee Head Tom Perez has accused President Trump of making Latino voters fearful heading into the 2018 midterm elections.

While speaking on CNN, he shared blunt thoughts about Trump’s treatment of latinos, “Let’s be honest, Donald Trump has put the fear of God into a lot of Latino voters. He’s demonized them, he debases them. He wants them to stay home. We’re not going to allow that to happen.”

Perez’s comments come on the heels of Trump’s tough talk on potential voter fraud for all those headed to the polls, not just latino voters during the midterms, when he tweeted, "All levels of government and Law Enforcement are watching carefully for VOTER FRAUD, including during EARLY VOTING. “Cheat at your own peril. Violators will be subject to maximum penalties, both civil and criminal!"

Trump recently announced that he will begin cutting off aid to Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras, countries whose citizens are headed to the United States in a controversial caravan, tweeting, "Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador were not able to do the job of stopping people from leaving their country and coming illegally to the U.S. We will now begin cutting off, or substantially reducing, the massive foreign aid routinely given to them."

Perez maintains that Democrats will continue to aggressively court Latino voters leading up to the midterms.
