A-Rod sports full Red Sox uniform after losing Yankees bet with David Ortiz

Once you become part of the Boston Red Sox-New York Yankees rivalry, you’re part of it for life.

Just ask David Ortiz, who spent 14 seasons as the Red Sox designated hitter, and Alex Rodriguez, who wore Yankees pinstripes the final 12 seasons of his career.

The current FOX Sports analysts have carried the rivalry with them into the studio, taking jabs at one another when warranted. They even agreed to a public bet on this year’s American League Division Series, forcing the loser to wear the other team’s uniform.

Unfortunately for A-Rod, the bet didn’t go his way. The Red Sox wrapped up the series in four games, meaning Ortiz had bragging rights and Rodriguez had to resort to wearing a full Red Sox uniform on live television.

The former Yankees slugger paid it off following the broadcast of Game 1 of the National League Championship Series, which the Brewers won 6-5 against the Dodgers.

It was a sight to behold. Ortiz even brought the champagne for a mock clubhouse celebration.

It’s truly surreal seeing A-Rod in a Red Sox uniform.

To his credit, he was a good sport about it. He let Ortiz have his moment, which included spitting out a few bars from “Sweet Caroline.”

Then, in typical A-Rod fashion, he got the last word, allowing that Yankees t-shirt to peak through the unbuttoned jersey.

Some fans might not like how Red Sox and Yankees-centric the Fox Sports pregame and postgame can be with Ortiz and Rodriguez playing such prominent roles. But with payoffs like this, it’s well worth the often cringe-worthy banter.
