Report: First lady Melania watched CNN aboard Air Force One during first international trip without the president

First lady Melania Trump reportedly tuned in to CNN aboard Air Force One during her first big international trip without President Donald Trump.

Associated Press White House reporter Darlene Superville said on Monday via the AP's Jonathan Lemire that as the first lady departed for Africa, she had the plane's televisions showing CNN instead of FOX News.

While Trump frequently derides CNN and other mainstream media outlets as "fake news," he has been open about his fondness for FOX News, a conservative station with coverage that often favors his administration.

Melania allegedly caused "a bit of a stir" in July during the first couple's trip to Europe when President Trump saw that her television aboard Air Force One was tuned into CNN, The New York Times reported.

Upon noticing, Trump reportedly became irate at staff members who hadn't change Melania's TV channel to FOX News.

The first lady's spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham issued a statement at the time, asserting that Melania watches "any channel she wants" and that it "seems kind of silly to worry about what channel she watches on TV."
