Blood dripping from ceiling of Florida apartment leads to discovery of two bodies

Blood dripping into a Florida apartment led to the discovery of two bodies Sunday in what investigators are calling a murder-suicide.

It is believed that 84-year-old Nicholas Mantzouranis killed his wife Sally, 66, at their Margate home before turning the gun on himself.

A concerned tenant in the building told a maintenance worker about a red substance that was seeping from his ceiling on Sunday. Paramedics and cops were called to the scene, and the bodies were found upstairs.

The body of Sally Mantzouranis was found in her bed and her husband was on the floor, according to the Sun-Sentinel newspaper. The gun was found next to Nicholas Mantzouranis.

A tenant in the building told the newspaper that a shot went through his apartment, but he was not home at the time. The neighbor, who was not identified, told the paper that the couple "kept to themselves."

“I cannot believe this,” another neighbor told the newspaper.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the shooting should contact the Margate Police Department at (954) 972-7111.
