Trump’s Labor Day tweet backfires

President Trump tweeted out a Labor Day greeting, but it didn’t go over as well as he’d likely planned.

“Happy Labor Day! Our country is doing better than ever before with unemployment setting record lows. The U.S. has tremendous upside potential as we go about fixing some of the worst Trade Deals ever made by any country in the world. Big progress being made!” Trump wrote on Monday.

Reactions include, “Don’t say ‘Happy Labor Day’ when you are hurting middle class workers!” “The progress being made by Mueller specifically is HUGE,” and, “Happy It’s All About Me Day !”

“Why don’t you give us all a gift on this holiday and STAY OFF TWITTER FOR THE DAY!” another person asked.

There was also a reference to Trump’s notable and requested absence from the Saturday memorial service of John McCain.

It featured an image of Trump sitting alone on the left while past Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton together on the right. The tweet stated, “Feeling left out again #LaborDay.”

Less than an hour after sharing his early morning Labor Day message, Trump posted another tweet.

“The Worker in America is doing better than ever before,” the president wrote. “Celebrate Labor Day!”
