Toddler dies in hot car after father reportedly forgets to drop him off at day care

A Henrico County, Virginia toddler left in a hot car for hours died on Wednesday.

WRIC reports that, according to authorities, the father forgot to drop the child off at daycare before going to work at the Capital One complex in West Creek.

The car was parked on an uncovered parking garage deck and the toddler was left behind.

WWBT notes that hours later, the father was reportedly notified by his wife that a daycare worker called to say that the child hadn’t arrived.

Emergency services were contacted and the 17-month-old was taken to an area hospital.

Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
