Houston's Oliver tops list of ESPN's top 50 college football players

ESPN has named its top 50 players for the 2018 season.

Topping the list is Houston junior defensive tackle Ed Oliver, who could be the No. 1 selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. He also could emerge as the first defensive lineman to finish in the top five in Heisman Trophy voting since Ndamukong Suh in 2009.

Following him to round out the top five are: Stanford senior running back Bryce Love, who rushed for 2,118 yards in 2017; West Virginia senior quarterback Will Grier, who threw for 3,490 yards last season; Clemson senior defensive lineman Christian Wilkins; and fellow Clemson defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, a junior.

The rest of the top 10 has a decidedly Big Ten flair: defensive end Nick Bosa, Ohio State; running back Jonathan Taylor, Wisconsin; defensive lineman Rashan Gary, Michigan; quarterback Trace McSorley, Penn State; and quarterback Jarrett Stidham, Auburn.
