World Series odds: Red Sox, Yankees still trying to catch Houston

The three-horse race atop the American League keeps getting tighter -- but the Houston Astros remain the team to beat.

Betting odds via Vegas Insider still give MLB's defending champions the best shot at winning the 2018 World Series, followed closely behind by the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees, who are duking it out to win the American League East.

Out west, the Los Angeles Dodgers have made a recent jump up the rankings since acquiring Manny Machado ahead of the trade deadline. The Dodgers are now the National League team with the best odds of winning it all come October, narrowly beating out the Chicago Cubs.

This late in the season, Vegas Insider is only giving 21 teams any odds at all of making it to and winning the Fall Classic. Those other nine teams will just have to hope next year is the year.
